191102011: Curragh book place in 2011 Cup Final
O Meara hero after dramatic penalty shoot-out
Curragh Athletic 2 Raphoe Town 2 (Curragh won 4 – 1 on penalties)
It took a dramatic penalty shoot out for Curragh to book their place in this year’s under 16 Cup Final. And it took also a brilliant Liam O Meara to help them on their way saving three of the four penalties from Raphoe Town in the shoot-out. The game itself was very evenly balanced and credit to both teams, but especially the home team who came from behind twice to snatch victory in that dramatic shoot-out. The visitors opened the scoring on twenty four minutes when Adam Kelly fired home a rebound to put his side one up. Curragh equalised on thirty six minutes when a short corner saw Carlin set up Travis Lafferty who powerfully shot past Ryan Mulroney in the Raphoe nets. But Raphoe regained the lead on forty six minutes when Jamie Ayton turned well in the box and hammered the ball to the net. Curragh then went in search of an equaliser and Travis Lafferty rattled the top of the bar with a great shot. Finally the goal came on seventy four minutes when Lafferty brilliantly pulled the ball back over the keeper, off the post and back into the net. This was no more than Curragh deserved. Extra time saw both sides try and get the winner with a great shot from Carlin coming off the bar the closest any side came to getting a third goal. Then in the penalty shoot-out, Liam O Meara pulled out all the stops with three great saves to see Curragh through 4 – 1 on penalties.

Match reports:
05/09/2010:
Curragh Athletic 4 Cappry Rovers 1
The first game of the Donegal Schoolboys League u16 season kicked off to a shaky start, as the visitors Cappry took an early hold of the game. Their grip didn't last too long however, as the Curragh side grew more and more into the contest. Cappry's initial advances on the left wing where soon cut out by an impressive first half display by Curragh right back Pauric McMenamin. Cappry continued to press though and became increasingly frustrated as their chances were being snubbed out by the defensive duo of Ronan Gallen and James McMenamin. On the rare occasion they did get by Shane Gallagher was there to clean things up. Cappry still looked stronger, causing Curragh to move Dylan Quinn into a more central role, where he soon took hold of the game. For all their possession though Curragh went in at half time one down, after the ball was slide behind the defence and Mulligan neatly tucked it away past the impressive Luke Kelly.
Cappry changed it up a bit pulling their play making no. 9 back into the middle, to deal with the 5 man midfield Curragh played. This cleared the way for left back Patrick McColgan to come more into the game, finding great balls up the wing for the home side. After the restart Curragh got straight back at Cappry and after a blocked shot found its way to Pauric McMenamin he made no mistake lifting the ball to the far corner from the edge of the box, 1-1. Curragh immediately went on the attack, pushing Gary Kelly forward alongside the hard working Colm Melaugh. The duo worked a treat and in no time Curragh took the lead, Kelly with the goal, 2-1. Then a cross found its way to Thomas "Tucker" Devlin coming in from the right wing, and he sweetly tucked the ball into the bottom corner. Curragh made a few changes introducing the O'Neill twins and Catterson, and deservedly went on to score a fourth 10 minutes from time when Kelly dogged as ever finished inside the six yard box. Full time Curragh 4 Cappry 1.
